Tips for Checking Out Gateway
Haven’t been to church in a while? Let us suggest a few basic tips for your first Sunday at Gateway…
Tip #1: Leave your suit and tie at home. You might look a bit out of place among neighbors who will be wearing shorts, jeans, t-shirts, etc... So please dress comfortably.
Tip #2: Skip the drive-thru. Save some spare change and grab your daily caf-fix in our new café.
Tip #3: Hard hats will be unnecessary. Contrary to popular belief, the walls will NOT fall down when you enter church (we built them extra-strong just for you!).
Tip #4: Parental Advisory: Kids have been known to wake parents early on Sundays. This is what we call the “FLIPSIDE Factor.” Can’t say we didn’t warn you.
Tip #5: Bring your questions, doubts and opinions. Gateway is a place safe place where people of all backgrounds can come to explore questions of life, faith and hope. Skeptics are welcome.
Tip #6: No perfect people allowed. You’ll find stressed-out hockey-dads, imperfect teenagers and one fishing-addicted pastor at Gateway… but no perfect people. Please come as you are!
Generally the service begins with our band jamming at the front. The words are projected on two large twin screens. Feel free to sing along or just relax and enjoy. Most of the songs will have spiritual themes but some will be pop, rock or country songs you recognize from your radio.
Like most churches, we take an offering in the service. As a guest, we hope you will feel under no obligation to give. This is simply an opportunity for our church family to support local and global ministries and needs.
We believe that church should be a place for expressing the creative arts and therefore, Gateway incorporates elements of drama, video and multimedia into the services.
The message is unapologetically based upon the timeless truths of the Bible. At the same time, our communication style is relaxed, often humorous and every effort is made to help the biblical message connect with the real life issues you face every week.
After the service, be sure to linger over another cup of coffee. Don’t feel that you need to rush out the door. And don’t forget to pick up the kids before you take off for Grandma’s house!
