Your Gateway Team

Rev. Steve Kerr ~ Senior Pastor
Steve Kerr

My wife Christa and I moved to Caledonia 8 years ago and we absolutely love this place!  We migrated from a different area in Canada at the time but in Gateway and in our community we found a place to call home.

When I speak to neighbors about coming to church, many of them tell me that they are interested… but one common concern holds them back.  Many feel like church is just for people who have their lives all together.  Some feel out-of-place because they don’t know the lingo. Others wonder if they will be welcome in casual clothing.  In other words, they are not sure if they can just show up as they are.

Gateway is a place where you can come just as you are.

At Gateway you’ll find people just like you.

  • People with questions looking for honest answers…
  • People who’ve been burned and need genuine friendship…
  • People who are open to exploring an authentic relationship with God…
  • People who are searching for significance and happiness…

If you’re currently attending a church, we are thrilled for you and don’t want to draw you away from that.  But if not, we extend to you our warmest invitation to come as you are and hang on for the ride.  Who knew that church could be so much fun?

Shawn has been leading worship for over 10 years and says "There's a special and mysterious bond between God and music.  Sometimes music can really unlock our hearts as we praise God.  Here at church we are seeking to make that connection as we bring people closer to Him."

Sue and I have been living in Stoney Creek for the last twelve years with our two dogs. Over the last twenty years most of my time has been spent hanging out with youth as a pastor, rugby and football coach and “that guy” who marries and buries people. Sue is usually found in the park with the dogs or looking after friends and neighbour’s cats and dogs. Our home has had a tendency over the years to be a food supply house and a landing pad for friends in transition and it is usually in some state of pandemonium. We are always amazed with what adventure God has in store for us next so we try hard to relax and enjoy the journey.

Currently, I am attending Heritage Bible College & Seminary working towards completing a 4-year Bachelor of Religious Education Professional – Youth & Family degree and I am very excited to be a part of the team at Gateway. I look forward to the wonderful and exciting things that God has in store.
